Hyunju Shin is an associate professor of marketing at Georgia Southern University. She holds a Ph.D. in marketing from The University of Alabama. As a faculty member, she has taught principles of marketing, marketing research and strategic marketing in the Parker College of Business at Georgia Southern University. In teaching, Hyunju sees her role as facilitating students’ learning beyond simply memorizing definitions and terms by stimulating them to apply their knowledge to real life. For this, she carefully utilizes selected real-world marketing examples, cases, and activities to help students understand the connection between academic topics and real-world application.
Hyunju’s research aims to understand how choices business managers make influence firm performance and how these outcomes can be improved. Her research interests include relationship management in retailing and services, customer engagement on social media and luxury brand management. Her works have been published in leading academic business journals such as Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Ethics, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Service Theory and Practice, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services and Journal of Brand Management. She has received a number of teaching and research awards including an Excellence in Research Award (2019) and Jane White Marketing Scholar Award (2018) from Parker College of Business and a Highly Commended Award (2013) from Supply Chain Management: An International Journal.
