Dr. E. Cameron Williams is teaching two sections of Principles of Transportation this semester, as a temporary part-time instructor. He graduated from the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy and served as an officer in the American merchant marine during the Viet Nam War. After leaving the sea, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a PhD in Business. Among the universities where he taught over a long and varied academic career is Georgia Southern Here, as an Associate Professor during the nineties, he participated in creating a transportation program within the marketing department, and served as the first Director of the Southern Center for Logistics and Intermodal Transportation, which evolved into the current logistics and transportation program. His last full-time teaching/research position was as Visiting Professor of Maritime Studies at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, where he failed completely to become fluent in Mandarin. He is the author or co-author of more than two dozen scholarly articles or papers and three science fiction novels. He lives in Bluffton, South Carolina.
