About the Location:
Students will experience and learn to navigate concepts about issues critical to successful business practices in the globalized economic environment.

With the 2nd-largest economy in South America, Argentina is an important emerging market.  By visiting the city of Buenos Aires, students will gain significant first-hand understanding of how business is practiced locally in Argentina, under constraints stemming from currency crises, and a comparatively recent process of political and financial liberalization.  A combination of rising inflation, austerity measures, and a potential bailout from the IMF all create challenges for conducting business in a country that is a major exporter of agricultural goods, rich with natural resources and a highly diversified industrial base.  As a case study, Argentina will provide a microcosm for understanding the challenges faced by emerging market economies that rely on secondary sectors of production for economic growth and income, and simultaneously are making political and legal transitions to encourage foreign investment.
