In Memoriam
The Parker College Family is sad to report the loss of Robert (Bob) A. Wells, Ph.D., professor emeritus of management. Bob passed away on August 13, 2023, at his home in Statesboro. A memorial service is planned for September 2, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Statesboro Church of Christ (23607 US-80, Statesboro, GA 30461).
While at Georgia Southern, Bob co-authored several articles dealing with simulation theory and, along with J. Bernard (Bernie) Keys, Ph.D., professor emeritus of management, hosted business simulation games that drew student participants and faculty advisors from around the world to Georgia Southern to compete in the semi- and final stages of the simulation he and Bernie had developed.
In high school, Bob played in the marching band and went on to receive a BA in music from The University of Georgia. He was a Navy veteran and band director for Jenkins County High School before returning to UGA and, ultimately, earning a doctorate in educational psychology. At Georgia Southern, Bob was active in the Georgia Southern orchestra, playing French horn. In addition, he served as song leader and elder at Statesboro Church of Christ. A ham radio hobbyist, Bob also had a passion for photography.
